Holiday Survival

No matter what you do for a living,

the holiday season has its own pressures and stresses. From Thanksgiving to New Years Day, it is easy to get caught up in the parties, the activities and the shopping.
So, how do you keep your sanity during the season? Well, lets look at a few ways you can keep some peace and joy in your life now and all year long.
Prioritize
Don’t feel obligated to do everything. Pick and chose activities with the purpose in mind.
Is that last minute night out with the friends as important as seeing your son play the trombone in the school concert? Even if they are on different nights, over extending yourself will not be worth it in the long run.
Stay organized
Keep your calendar up to date. Don’t wait until the last minute to make that dish for the family dinner or send out your thank you notes.
Plan down time
Put time for rest in your schedule. This could be as simple as blocking out a few hours during the week or planing a low-key at-home movie night with your family or a few friends.
Don’t take work home
If at all possible, leave your work at work. Don’t cut time short with your family or close friends because you brought work home with you. If there are emails to write and phone call to return that cannot wait, plan out a specific time to get those done and stick to it.
Make health a priority
Having that 2nd helping of dessert can be tempting, but always remember how food can affect your well being. Also, try your best to get in some exercise.
Don’t forget to laugh
It may not come in pill form, but many believe that laughter is the best medicine. So, let go off all the “stuff” and laugh it up!
